 Travel Medicine

Your health plan for the trip matters as much as your itinerary.

Travelling outside Grenada — to South America, Africa, Asia, or elsewhere — can mean exposure to illnesses you have no immunity to. The practice provides destination-specific vaccines, malaria prophylaxis, and travel health documentation.

If you're travelling outside Grenada — whether it's to Venezuela, Brazil, West Africa, or Southeast Asia — your health plan for the trip matters as much as your itinerary. Yellow fever, typhoid, malaria, hepatitis A — these are real risks in many destinations that a short consultation can protect you against.

Pre-travel consultation

Book your travel health appointment at least four to six weeks before you leave — some vaccine courses take time to complete, and some countries require proof of vaccination before entry. Dr. Martin will review your destination, your itinerary, and your current health to give you destination-specific advice.

Vaccines and prophylaxis

Yellow fever vaccination (required for entry into many countries and available at the practice), typhoid, hepatitis A and B, meningococcal vaccine for certain destinations, and rabies pre-exposure for high-risk travel. Malaria prophylaxis medication for relevant regions. Dr. Martin will tell you exactly what applies to where you're going.

Travel health documentation

The yellow fever certificate, fitness-to-travel letters, and other documentation that airlines and countries require. The practice can provide these as part of your pre-travel visit.

On return

Fever after travel, persistent diarrhoea, or any unusual symptoms after returning from a trip should be assessed promptly. Some tropical infections present days or weeks after exposure. Don't wait — come in and mention where you've been.
